Government Medical College Balangir Government Medical College Balangir, officially known as **Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital (BBMCH)**, is a government medical institution located in Balangir, Odisha. The college was established through the combined efforts of the Government of Odisha and the Government of India with the objective of strengthening medical education and improving access to healthcare in the region. The institution began its functioning in 2018, with its first MBBS batch admitted in the 2018–19 academic session. The college has an academic campus situated near the Gandhamardhana Hills, while its teaching hospital is located in the main town of Balangir. The hospital was developed using the existing District Headquarters Hospital and provides patients with access to a range of medical services. The two locations are approximately 5 km apart and are connected to the town through local transportation. For students, the college provides the facilities expected from a developing government medical institution, including academic and administrative blocks, lecture theatres, an auditorium, hostels for boys and girls, an interns' hostel, residents' accommodation, a cafeteria, playground, gymnasium and other campus facilities. A new teaching hospital with a proposed capacity of 650 beds is also being developed near the college campus. The primary undergraduate medical programme offered by the institution is **MBBS**. Admission to the course is conducted through the medical admission process based on **NEET-UG**, with counselling and document verification requirements applicable to candidates. The college has historically had an approved MBBS intake of 100 seats, although students should always check the latest NMC seat matrix for the current academic year before applying. With its government status, teaching hospital exposure and growing campus infrastructure, Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital has become an important medical education and healthcare centre for Balangir and surrounding areas of western Odisha.
