Diphu Medical College & Hospital, Assam Diphu Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) is a government medical institution located in Diphu, the administrative headquarters of Karbi Anglong district in Assam. Established with the vision of strengthening healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to quality medical education in the region, the college has emerged as an important centre for medical education, clinical care, and research in Northeast India. The foundation stone of the institution was laid on 29 January 2011, and the college was officially inaugurated in November 2019. It became the seventh medical college in Assam. The institution functions under the administrative control of the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam, and is affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), Guwahati. It is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The first MBBS batch was admitted in 2020 with an intake of 100 students. Spread across a spacious and green campus approximately 1.6 km from Diphu town, DMCH provides a peaceful environment for academic learning and professional development. The college is supported by a modern hospital with more than 500 beds and offers a wide range of healthcare services, including OPD and IPD facilities, emergency and trauma care, intensive care units, operation theatres, diagnostic and imaging services, blood bank, pharmacy, dialysis, and maternal and child healthcare. The academic curriculum covers major pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical disciplines, providing students with comprehensive exposure to both theoretical knowledge and practical clinical training. The institution also promotes research and innovation through its Medical Research Unit and various academic and training activities. Beyond academics, DMCH encourages students to participate in sports, cultural programmes, health-awareness campaigns, blood donation drives, and community outreach activities. With its focus on accessible healthcare, medical education, research, and community service, Diphu Medical College & Hospital aims to develop competent, compassionate, and socially responsible healthcare professionals while contributing to the overall health and development of Assam.
