Jorhat Medical College & Hospital Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH) is a prominent government medical institution located at Barbheta, Jorhat, Assam. Established in 2009, the college was developed to strengthen medical education and provide advanced healthcare services to the people of Upper Assam and surrounding regions. Over the years, JMCH has evolved into an important centre for undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, tertiary healthcare, clinical training, and medical research. The institution is affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Assam, and offers undergraduate and postgraduate medical programmes across multiple disciplines. The college currently has an annual MBBS intake of 125 students and provides postgraduate education in various specialties. With 23 departments, including Casualty and Emergency Services, JMCH provides students with broad exposure to different areas of clinical medicine. The institution also functions as an NMC Regional Centre for Medical Education Technologies, supporting faculty development and medical education initiatives. Jorhat Medical College & Hospital also serves as a major tertiary-care healthcare facility in the region. The hospital has a capacity of around 964 beds and provides a wide range of specialized medical services. Its critical-care infrastructure includes MICU, SICU, RICU, ICCU, PICU, Neuro ICU, HDU, SNCU and other intensive-care units. Emergency and trauma services are available 24 hours a day, enabling the hospital to respond to urgent and complex medical cases. Research and innovation form an important part of JMCH's academic environment. Its dedicated Medical Research Unit promotes clinical research, training and research-oriented activities among students and faculty. The college also contributes to community healthcare through outreach programmes, health awareness campaigns and medical services for underserved populations.
