Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan, is a government medical institution located in Nahan, Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. The college was established with the aim of strengthening medical education and healthcare services in the southern part of the state. It is among the government medical colleges developed by Himachal Pradesh to increase access to professional medical education and trained doctors. The institution started its first MBBS batch in the academic session 2016–17. It was initially established with an intake capacity of 100 MBBS students and has since become an important centre for medical education and clinical training in the region. The college is affiliated with Atal Medical and Research University, Himachal Pradesh, which is the state health sciences university responsible for its academic affiliation. A major strength of the college is its connection with hospital-based clinical training. Students pursuing the MBBS programme get opportunities to learn through practical exposure alongside their classroom education. This combination allows students to understand patient care, diagnosis and different aspects of clinical practice in a real healthcare environment. Over the years, the institution has developed facilities to support teaching and training, including lecture theatres, laboratories, library facilities and hospital-related infrastructure. The college has also been included among the functional government medical colleges established under the Government of India's scheme for setting up new medical colleges attached to existing district or referral hospitals. The college continues to play a role in meeting the healthcare needs of Sirmaur and nearby areas while providing students with an opportunity to pursue medical education in Himachal Pradesh.
