Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital, Muzaffarpur Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), located in Uma Nagar, Muzaffarpur, Bihar, is one of the prominent government medical institutions in the state. Established on 11 May 1970, the college was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Bihar, Late Shri Daroga Prasad Rai. Since its establishment, the institution has developed into an important centre for medical education, healthcare services and clinical training in North Bihar. The foundation of the institution was associated with the Vaishali Shiksha Pratisthan, a society formed with the objective of promoting professional, technical and general education in Bihar. In its early years, teaching activities were conducted from the S.K.J. Law College building at Ganipur, Muzaffarpur. A large campus was subsequently developed at Uma Nagar, providing the institution with dedicated academic and residential infrastructure. Over the following years, the campus expanded with lecture halls, hostels and other facilities to support medical education and student life. SKMCH combines academic learning with practical clinical exposure through its teaching hospital. The hospital provides healthcare services to a wide section of the population, including patients from surrounding areas who depend on the institution for specialized and tertiary medical care. Its facilities include multiple clinical departments, intensive care services, laboratories, outpatient services and inpatient care. The hospital's official information lists more than 1,000 beds and a wide network of departments and healthcare services. The institution focuses on developing medically competent professionals through education, clinical experience and research-oriented learning. Its vision emphasizes developing scientific thinking among students and encouraging future healthcare professionals to contribute meaningfully to society. The college's long history, government-supported infrastructure and role in healthcare delivery have made it an important medical education and healthcare centre in Bihar.
